as in not mr gordon or those fleeting moments of inspiration that pass through your mind and you never write down but fiction of 1,000 words or less.
the commonly held general 'rules' are :
there must be a story, i.e. something has to happen
character is paramount
there is a setting, i.e. the story takes place somewhere
for the purposes of this blog these precepts can be ignored. the only rule is the 1,000 word limit. post your work, your comments and see what... occurs. that aside a funny thing happened on my way to the zoo.
Thanks to everyone who turned out for what was one of the best of my launches. Why? The warmth, the settting, the surprise cake, the crowd, the smart questions of such an informed audience, the film which I thought was brilliant. And all on a chilly busy December eve, with many of you new to the slightly difficult to find venue.
Having done a few launches I always like to add some kind of unique twist, to stop it all getting formulaic. I'd welcome your own views on best launches, new ideas for them etc...
Is it wrong to attempt to write poetry that features the sun etc in these cold winter days? - am i working aginst the grain
That email I should have replied to, from the very nice lady who interviewed me for a community radio station, well I never did. It has been on my mind (and in my eye every time I log on). But I wanted to wait for the right time.
This morning a letter arrives. It is to be signed for, but the postman just puts it through the letter box, because maybe he thinks I am a monster in the mornings. Now why should I think he should think that?
I am ready to go to work. The phone rings. I answer it. It is a useful call. But now I am late. Is there a pattern emerging?
Opened the post this morning. Oh how I laughed.
Got a cheque for some work I did. Oh how I laughed.
Attached was a compliments slip. It said: "Mushy peas. With compliments."
She took the time to write "Mushy peas".
I must have made an impact on them. Oh how I laughed.
But I preferred the cheque. That was easier to understand.
So here it is (again). My second entry but really only my first as the system crashed yesterday during the training. Our valliant tutor said "It all worked perfectly before I came over"... Came over? Came over? Came over all funny? Oh how we laughed.
Blog entry 1: this blog contains drafts of ideas, poetry and prose. It is all my own work. Ha ha. No really it is. Yesterday we had a big discussion about copyright and that was the outcome. Oh how we laughed.
Today for the very first time I am learning to blog at the Commonword, http://www.commonword.org.uk, offices...
