93 YR OLD AT THE STARTING BLOCKS, 11-08-08

Just saw the tale of Lorna Page, her real name presumably. Just had her 1st book published at 93.

Please admit that if 'Pete Kalu' was mentioned amongst some publushers somewhere, there might be the remark "we've heard the name..."

I'm just remembering there's some lady, hit the mark in her 60's. Publisher's suggesting changing this, pruning another part; she told them: 'you're not changing one word' she got away with it. I've some vague idea she was from the west country area.

I'd been wondering that; I got the impression it was her first attempt tho.
Main point from where I sit is that I've taken it on board that publishers want younger writers. On the basis that it's going to take them some years grooming the person along, helping build their profile, all that jazz.

Frankly there's so much of life that's BS that when I hear 'conventional wisdom' I've quite a tendency to stick my tongue out at it.

More power to her elbow!.. there's hope, yes
